Tutoring/Academic Coaching for Middle & High School Students
Mindful Outdoor Guide and Founder of TreePose Explorations, activities for youth and adults
People are not merely the sum of their schooling, and I practice this myself by blending varying aspects of my background with my work with children and adults. My 25-year career as an educator has taken me across the globe, where I have engaged with many people. In addition to traditional academic training and ongoing professional development, my wanderings and adventures have also found me in yoga centers, meditation retreats, performance stages, and the mountains and forests.
As an academic coach, I work with students seeking support for organizational and work-completion issues in addition to subject-specific tutoring. Sessions are devoted to coaching students in navigating the various virtual curriculum and assignment platforms, creating plans for prioritizing and scheduling, and developing individualized, workable roads to academic independence and responsibility.
I also work with students using a shorter series of sessions as they complete their college application essays.
In addition to my work as a teacher and coach, I am a lesson writer for Study.com. I have published over a dozen articles with this international educational platform on topics including Fatalism, motivational theories, the work of H.P. Lovecraft, the Salat prayer, and Brahms' German Requiem, to name just a few.
As an educator and guide, I appreciate and look for every individual's uniqueness as the foundation for our work together. I teach and coach people rather than merely delivering content. My background in mindfulness is not limited to being outdoors; it informs my approach to working with others in any context.
